The Moldex 0103 Fit Test Kit allows multiple qualitative tests to be carried out to establish if respirators are fitting securely and seal adequately to individual users’ facial contours, whilst also protecting from potentially harmful substances.
The test involves the use of an odourless bitter substance which is used for its strong bitter taste. Throughout the test the wearer must complete several exercises, which are outlined in detail within the Moldex Fit Test Kit User Instructions, this includes normal breathing, deep breathing, turning the head from side to side, moving head up and down, talking and bending over. This will help to ensure the mask fits in place tightly when carrying out movements that are expected when using coatings, spraying finishing and painting surfaces. The bitter solution is sprayed every 30 seconds throughout each exercise.
The wearer is instructed to indicate immediately if, or when they taste the Bitter. The fit test relies on the persons’ response to a test agent (bitter solution). This simple but effective method will determine if the FFP or half mask is a pass or a fail. If the test person can taste the test agent through the mask at any time, the test is failed.
The Fit test will guide the wearer to selecting a mask model which matches the test persons facial features and seals adequately to their face, as well as checking that the wearer can put the mask on correctly.
